Hyperbola:

A hyperbola is a curve with an equations similar to an quadratic. A hyperbola has an equation ax^2+bxy+cy^2+dx+ey+f, where b^2>4ac and all coefficients are real.

the eccentricity of a hyperbola is given as sqrt(1+b^2/a^2) where b is the length pf the semi minor axis and a is the semi major axis.

the semi major axis is 1/2 the distance between the branches and the semi minor axis is b/sqrt(e^2-1).
